Douglas Bower

Douglas Bower is a Lecturer in project management at the Toronto Campus of Northeastern University. He also provides management consulting services. Until early 2015, he was a manager in the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, leading Government projects promoting the adoption of e-business techniques and increasing the availability of broadband services in Ontario. Previously, he provided consulting services to IT and telecom firms such as IBM, CGI, Bell Canada and Telus Mobility. He also led complex multimillion-dollar projects and programs within major Canadian corporations such as CIBC and Cineplex.
Dr. Bower earned a Doctor of Project Management degree from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He also has an MBA from York University in Toronto, and an MSc from Syracuse University (USA) in telecommunications and network management.
Doug’s research on project planning, phases and earned value management has been published in professional journals. He has focussed on the nature of phased rollout projects, and simpler yet more effective techniques for tracking project progress and performance. Doug has been an invited speaker at many project management conferences in Canada, the US, Europe and Australia. He has presented at five previous PMI Congresses in North America and Europe.
